Inter Miami secures a victory in Messi's MLS playoff debut, defeating Atlanta United 2-1.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Lionel Messi made a triumphant entrance into the MLS playoffs, leading Inter Miami to a 2-1 victory over Atlanta United in Game 1 of their best-of-three series on Friday night. Goals from Luis Suarez and Jordi Alba propelled Miami to the win, with Messi providing an assist for Alba’s pivotal goal in the 60th minute. Atlanta's Saba Lobjanidze found the net, but their efforts were thwarted by eight saves from goalkeeper Brad Guzan. The teams will face off again in Game 2 in Atlanta on November 2.
