Ashton Jeanty Injury Update: CBS Sports Provides the Latest on Boise State Running Back

Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty is having a remarkable season, positioning himself as a frontrunner for the 2024 Heisman Trophy. His team faces a crucial matchup against the UNLV Rebels on Friday night, a significant game for both squads.

However, Jeanty has been nursing an injury throughout the contest. After halftime, CBS Sports provided an update on his condition, shared by sideline reporter Tiffany Blackmon.

“I spoke with Boise State coach Spencer Danielson, who expressed pride in his team's resilience, much like his running back, who is battling through a left arm injury. They’ll evaluate Jeanty's status at halftime, but Danielson called him a warrior.”

Jeanty briefly visited the medical tent in the first half, where trainers wrapped his left forearm and elbow before allowing him to return to the field. With 12:38 left in the game, he had amassed 26 carries for 102 yards and a touchdown, showcasing impressive runs near the goal line, including a determined push into the end zone to give the Broncos a 29-24 lead.

Boise State ultimately defeated UNLV 29-24, keeping their College Football Playoff aspirations alive. Jeanty finished the game with 33 carries for 128 yards and a touchdown.

In Mel Kiper’s latest Big Board, Jeanty is recognized as a Top 10 prospect for the 2025 NFL Draft, ranking as the No. 9 overall prospect. Coming into the game against UNLV, he averaged an impressive 9.9 yards per carry with 17 rushing touchdowns.

After six games, Jeanty has tallied 126 carries for 1,248 yards and 17 touchdowns. He had a standout performance against Georgia Southern, where he rushed for 267 yards and scored six touchdowns, and another remarkable outing against Washington State, finishing with 26 carries for 259 yards and four touchdowns.

During his senior year of high school at Lone Star High School in Frisco, Texas, Jeanty recorded 1,843 rushing yards on 229 carries (8.0 yards per carry) and accumulated 810 receiving yards on 41 catches, scoring a total of 41 touchdowns (31 rushing, 10 receiving) between 2019 and 2021.
