"Notre Dame Dominates FSU, 52-3, with Mills and Greathouse Leading the Charge"

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Jon Bon Jovi, the 62-year-old rocker and die-hard Notre Dame football fan, was a notable presence at Notre Dame Stadium on Saturday. Despite not being a participant, he spent much of the evening energizing the crowd, raising the excitement far beyond the usual golf clap.

Ultimately, however, it was the Irish defense that stole the show and delivered the final word in Notre Dame's 52-3 victory over Florida State in their 12th-ever meeting. The game, which had minimal pregame buzz, saw Notre Dame, ranked 10th, dominate and secure their seventh straight win since their season-opening loss to Northern Illinois on September 7.

While the offense was solid and showed flashes of brilliance, the real star was the defense. Notre Dame will now head into its home finale against Virginia with an 8-1 record and a clear path to the 12-team College Football Playoff — one that they control. However, they must continue to improve incrementally if they hope to make a deep run.

Here’s a look at the game ball recipients from the matchup:

Defense: Rylie Mills, Defensive Tackle

With nose guard Howard Cross III sidelined early with an ankle injury, Rylie Mills stepped up in a big way. Mills recorded three of Notre Dame’s eight sacks on the night, along with five total tackles, setting the tone for the Irish defense. Florida State’s offense was stifled, finishing with just 88 passing yards and a 38% completion rate, thanks in large part to Mills’ relentless pressure.

Offense: Jaden Greathouse, Wide Receiver

On a night when the Notre Dame passing game seemed to stall in terms of big progress, sophomore slot receiver Jaden Greathouse delivered when it mattered most. He led all players with five receptions for 66 yards, making key plays to keep the chains moving. Quarterback Riley Leonard threw for 215 yards and a touchdown, while backup Steve Angeli added another 37 yards and a touchdown.

The Irish now look ahead to Virginia, aiming to keep their momentum going as they push for a potential spot in the College Football Playoff.
