Gignac se perfila para ser suplente en Tigres en el partido contra Tijuana.

Tigres has not been as decisive in the Apertura 2024 as in previous tournaments. Despite holding third place in the overall standings, the Universitarios have suffered losses against teams they should have defeated. The consistency they are known for seems to be lacking this season. For this reason, head coach Velko Paunovic will continue his rotation strategy as they prepare to face Xolos next Friday in Tijuana.

A key decision for the coach will be in the attacking line, as he plans to bench French striker André-Pierre Gignac, replacing him with Nico Ibáñez, as reported by TUDN reporter Vladimir García on the program Insiders. García noted that changes will also be made in the midfield and forward positions.

"It seems he hasn't repeated any offensive lineup in the 14 matches of the Apertura, as he aims to give playing time to all the players, which is why Gignac will be on the bench," the reporter added.

Paunovic is expected to play with Osvaldo Rodríguez and ‘Chuy’ Garza in place of Jesús Ángulo and Javier Aquino due to suspensions.

Tigres aims to finish the Apertura 2024 strong and regain the form that has placed them among the top teams in Mexican football.
