FBI Raids Home of Pastor Husband Months After Mica Miller's Death
The FBI conducted a search at the residence of John-Paul Miller, a pastor in South Carolina, following the suicide of his wife, Mica, in April. While a spokesperson for the FBI did not immediately respond to inquiries from PEOPLE, multiple local news outlets, including WBTW, WPDE, and The Sun News, reported seeing FBI agents outside Miller’s home in Horry County.
According to WPDE and WBTW, an FBI representative stated that the agency was engaged in "court-authorized law enforcement activity" at the location. Miller’s attorney, Russell Long, confirmed the search in a statement to PEOPLE, saying, “They executed a search warrant at his house this morning, as expected. Nothing new really. Hopefully, this is the end of it.”
Mica Miller, 30, was found deceased in a North Carolina state park from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. At the time of her death, she and John-Paul were estranged; just over a week prior, she had filed for Separate Support and Maintenance, indicating a legal separation.
Mica's family has raised concerns about the possibility of foul play, but local authorities have maintained that the evidence strongly supports a suicide ruling. In May, the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office informed PEOPLE that the FBI was conducting a “parallel investigation” unrelated to Mica’s death. Sheriff’s spokesperson Damien McLean clarified, “There's no evidence connecting him to her death. [The FBI is] investigating separately from her death, which has been ruled a suicide.”
The FBI has not disclosed details about the nature of its investigation.
