"Travis Hunter injury: Colorado's two-way star leaves game against Kansas State for shoulder evaluation"

Colorado star Travis Hunter left Saturday night’s 31-28 loss to Kansas State in the first half after suffering an apparent shoulder injury in the second quarter. The No. 1 player in CBS Sports' 2025 NFL Draft Prospect Rankings and a Heisman Trophy contender, Hunter was taken to the locker room with the game tied at 7-7.

Before his exit, the versatile two-way player had logged three receptions for 26 yards and made a tackle. ESPN reported that Hunter had been on the field for 44 of the game's 45 offensive and defensive snaps, emphasizing his heavy workload.

Over the past two seasons, Hunter's durability has become a major talking point as he's starred for Colorado on both offense and defense. A standout receiver and top-tier cornerback, Hunter's snap count is unprecedented in the modern era, raising concerns about the injury risks for the slender-framed athlete.

With elite skills at both positions, there's no consensus on whether Hunter will play receiver or cornerback at the next level. For now, he remains electric on both sides of the ball. Heading into Saturday’s game, Hunter had recorded five interceptions in 14 career games with the Buffaloes.

In addition to his defensive prowess, Hunter has been a game-changing receiver, accumulating 1,282 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns before Saturday's contest. This season alone, he's made clutch plays on both offense and defense for Colorado.
