"Popular Atlanta Radio Host Wanda Smith Passes Away One Day After Birthday, V-103 Confirms"

ATLANTA – The Atlanta entertainment community is mourning the loss of beloved radio personality Wanda Smith, who passed away on Saturday, just a day after celebrating her birthday. The news was confirmed by Rick Caffey, Senior Vice President and Market Manager of V-103 radio, where Smith was a longtime fixture.

"Our hearts are heavy as we grieve the loss of Wanda Smith, a cherished member of the V-103 family who brought joy to so many. We send our deepest condolences and prayers to her family," Caffey shared in an Instagram post.

Smith first joined V-103 – formerly WVEE-FM – in 1998 as a co-host on the "Frank and Wanda in the Morning" show, a position she held for over 20 years. Aside from a brief hiatus in 2013, she returned in 2014 to co-host alongside Ryan Cameron until her departure in 2019.

Beyond her radio career, Smith was an accomplished comedian, known for her contributions to the hit TV shows "Def Comedy Jam" and BET’s "Comicview." She also performed regularly at the Atlanta Comedy Theater in Norcross and appeared in several films, including Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes to Jail and Madea’s Witness Protection.

Smith is survived by her husband, LaMorris Sellers, and their three children.
