The Buckeyes delivered a lackluster performance against the Cornhuskers on Saturday. While the offense struggled significantly, the defense held strong, allowing Ohio State to narrowly avoid an upset at home.

Stock Up

Carnell Tate
The preseason buzz around Ohio State's receiving corps centered on Emeka Egbuka, Jeremiah Smith, and Carnell Tate. While Egbuka and Smith have shone this season, Tate stepped into the spotlight during this game. He led the team with four receptions for 102 yards and a touchdown, marking his breakout performance of the year.

Stock Down

Offensive Line
Before the game, I suggested a strategic adjustment by moving Tegra Tshabola to left tackle and slotting Austin Siereveld in at right guard. Instead, Ryan Day's staff opted for Zen Michalski at left tackle, a decision that backfired. Michalski struggled throughout, allowing Will Howard to face relentless pressure from his blind side. The offensive line as a whole failed to create openings for the run game, and the blame extends beyond Michalski to the entire unit. A reshuffle is anticipated this week as the team prepares for Penn State.

Stock Up

Cody Simon
The veteran linebacker once again showcased his dominance on defense, leading the team with eight total tackles (four solo) and three tackles for loss. His performance was crucial in helping the Buckeyes stave off a potential upset.

Coaching Staff
It appeared the team was already looking ahead to Penn State, lacking focus against Nebraska, despite having just come off a bye week. While Ryan Day is an excellent coach, there are areas needing improvement, particularly with Chip Kelly's play calling in this game. Fans should remain logical in their assessments, recognizing that Day has challenges to address moving forward.
