Sources indicate that the Chiefs are finalizing a trade to acquire Titans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.

The Tennessee Titans and Kansas City Chiefs are close to finalizing a trade that would send wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to Kansas City, according to league sources cited by ESPN's Adam Schefter. In return, the Titans are expected to receive a conditional fourth-round pick, with the deal anticipated to be completed by Wednesday.

The Chiefs have been seeking additional receiving talent since Rashee Rice suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 4. They also lost Marquise "Hollywood" Brown to a shoulder injury during preseason, and JuJu Smith-Schuster is sidelined with a hamstring injury that will keep him out of Sunday's game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Hopkins, a 12-year veteran, is in the final season of a two-year contract he signed with the Titans in July 2023. Despite recovering from a torn MCL sustained during the offseason, he has recorded 15 receptions for 173 yards and one touchdown over six games this season. A five-time Pro Bowler, he previously played for the Houston Texans and Arizona Cardinals.

This addition would provide quarterback Patrick Mahomes with another target. Mahomes expressed confidence in the Chiefs’ receiving corps despite recent trades that saw standout receivers Davante Adams and Amari Cooper depart. However, the team’s remaining wide receivers, rookie Xavier Worthy and Justin Watson, have combined for only 22 receptions through Week 7.

The Chiefs have successfully acquired key receivers before the trade deadline in recent seasons, notably trading for Kadarius Toney from the New York Giants in 2022 and Mecole Hardman from the New York Jets last year, both of whom contributed to the Chiefs' Super Bowl victories.

In other news, Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp acknowledged trade rumors ahead of the NFL's November 5 deadline but emphasized his focus on performing well for the Rams. Kupp has not played since Week 2 due to an ankle injury but was estimated as a full participant in practice and is expected to return for Thursday's game against the Minnesota Vikings.
