Dave Portnoy reacts to his BFF co-host Brianna Chickenfry's breakup with Zach Bryan by referencing a pointed Taylor Swift song.

Dave Portnoy is rallying behind his close friend and co-host Brianna "Chickenfry" LaPaglia following her breakup with Zach Bryan, sharing a pointed Taylor Swift song as a form of support. On October 22, the 47-year-old businessman and podcaster posted on X (formerly Twitter), dedicating Swift's track “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” from her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, to LaPaglia.

This post came shortly after Bryan announced their split on Instagram. The 28-year-old country singer shared, “Brianna and I have broken up with each other, and I respect and love her with every ounce of my heart. She has loved me unconditionally for a very long time, and for that, I'll always thank her.” He also mentioned that he has had a tough year and believed it was best for both of them to part ways.

LaPaglia, 25, expressed that she felt “blindsided” by Bryan's announcement. In her Instagram Stories, she wrote, “Hey guys, I'm feeling really blindsided right now. Gonna hop off social media for a while and attempt to heal privately. When I’m ready, I’ll be back and ready to talk. I love you guys so much. Thank you for all of your kind words. Remember, you are so loved and everything’s always gonna be okay.”

Later, she shared an emotional three-minute video on her Plan Bri UnCut account, revealing more about the breakup while sitting on her bathroom floor. “I just woke up to Zach posting on his Instagram that we broke up, and I had no idea that post was going up. He didn't text me, he didn't call me. I just woke up to a bunch of texts, like, 'Are you okay?'” she recounted. “This is so embarrassing. I don’t give a f***. How can you give every ounce of yourself to someone and then be discarded in a few days? It's really, really heartbreaking.”

Portnoy’s musical reference struck a chord, as many Taylor Swift fans interpret “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” as a commentary on her past relationship with Matty Healy. In the song, Swift addresses a former lover who made her believe in their love before abruptly ending things. Lines like “It wasn’t sexy once it wasn’t forbidden” and “You crashed my party and your rental car” encapsulate the pain of sudden heartbreak.
