Samantha Irvin, the ring announcer, bids farewell to WWE, stating, "I have a lifetime more to share."
WWE ring announcer Samantha Irvin has announced her departure from the company. She shared the news on social media Monday, just hours before "Monday Night Raw," where she served as the ringside voice.
"I love you all tremendously, and this does not mark the end of my art; I have a lifetime more to share. Thank you to every WWE fan who accepted me," she expressed.
Irvin extended her gratitude to everyone she worked with at WWE, including the women's locker room, backstage crew, superstars, and executives.
Legally known as Samantha Johnson, Irvin began her career as the ring announcer for "WWE 205 Live" in 2021 after initially trying out as a wrestler. She later moved to NXT and became the ring announcer for "Friday Night SmackDown" in January 2022. In February 2023, she transitioned to "Monday Night Raw," where she remained until her departure.
Irvin quickly became a fan favorite, known for her passionate introductions, including those for Roman Reigns and The Bloodline. One of her most viral moments came from her unique introduction of Chelsea Green.
On October 13, 2024, she performed the national anthem at a game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Las Vegas Raiders in Las Vegas. Chelsea Green praised her on social media, saying, "I am so lucky to have shared the ring with you and even more lucky to have been a part of your iconic ring announcements."
Irvin also lent her voice to most of WWE's premium live events, gaining acclaim during "WrestleMania 40" in April for announcing all 14 matches across the two-day event. Her emotional call when Cody Rhodes won the Undisputed WWE Championship was particularly noted, with legendary ring announcer Michael Buffer praising her performance.
In addition to her wrestling career, Irvin is also a singer and appeared on "America's Got Talent" and "I Can See Your Voice" before joining WWE.
Engaged to wrestler Ricochet, who recently left WWE to join AEW, Irvin has not yet revealed her next career move but hinted at exciting developments ahead. "To my fans, my entire career I've been waiting for you! We are meant to be, and I can prove it. Stay tuned," she said.
WWE has yet to announce Irvin's replacement or any significant changes to its ring announcing team.
