Sean "Diddy" Combs has been arrested, and the indictment is anticipated to be made public soon.
NEW YORK (AP) — Sean “Diddy” Combs was scheduled to appear before a federal judge in New York on Tuesday following his indictment on unspecified criminal charges.
The music mogul was arrested late Monday in Manhattan, approximately six months after federal authorities conducted a sex trafficking investigation that involved raids on his opulent homes in Los Angeles and Miami.
The indictment outlining the charges was expected to be revealed on Tuesday morning, as indicated by U.S. Attorney Damian Williams.
Over the past year, Combs has faced multiple lawsuits from individuals alleging physical and sexual abuse. He has denied many of these claims, with his attorney, Marc Agnifilo, labeling the new indictment as an “unjust prosecution.”
“He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal,” Agnifilo stated in a release late Monday.
At 54, Combs was once celebrated as one of the most influential figures in hip-hop, but a surge of allegations in the past year has significantly tarnished his reputation within the industry.
In November, his former girlfriend, R&B singer Cassie (legal name Casandra Ventura), filed a lawsuit claiming he had subjected her to years of physical abuse and rape. She accused Combs of coercing her and others into non-consensual sexual encounters in drug-fueled environments.
