The 49ers intend to have Brock Purdy play in their final preseason game.
On Sunday night, 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy struggled to find his rhythm against the Saints. Despite his effort, he was unable to generate much momentum. However, Purdy is scheduled for another opportunity to demonstrate his capabilities during the preseason.
Purdy made his summer debut in this game, and according to head coach Kyle Shanahan, Purdy is slated to play again in the upcoming final preseason game, which will see the 49ers traveling to Las Vegas to take on the Raiders on Friday.
In his initial appearance this season, Purdy was on the field for 11 snaps during the first quarter, but the offense only managed to advance 12 yards. The only first down was achieved on the opening drive, but subsequent drives ended in three-and-outs, leading Shanahan to describe them as “two frustrating drives.”
Shanahan noted that Purdy did not have “any good looks” during his time on the field, a situation that was likely influenced by the absence of several starting players. Shanahan has not yet disclosed whether any first-team players will join Purdy in the lineup for the preseason finale.
