The ‘American Idol’ Top 5 has been announced as two contestants depart following heartfelt Mother’s Day performances.

“American Idol” has narrowed the field to its Top 5 contestants.

After a month-long break from Disney-themed content, the show revived its popular Disney Night — this time expanded into a two-episode event. The May 11 broadcast kicked off with Lin-Manuel Miranda mentoring the Top 7 through songs from Disney and Pixar classics. In the second half, Carrie Underwood, dressed as Alice from “Alice in Wonderland,” braced herself for an emotional round of Mother’s Day tributes.

Memorable moments included Breanna Nix pushing through Lauren Alaina’s “Like My Mother Does,” and Thunderstorm Artis serenading his wife, Faith, with an original song inspired by her. The heartfelt performances gave way to tense results as fan votes determined the Top 5, sending Mattie Pruitt and Gabby Samone home.

Host Ryan Seacrest quipped after Thunderstorm’s performance, “I’ve never been more depressed to be single than in this moment.”

Here’s who made it into the Top 5:

  • Slater Nalley

  • Breanna Nix

  • John Foster

  • Jamal Roberts

  • Thunderstorm Artis
