Sengun’s 19 points and 14 rebounds lead Rockets to 106-96 win over Warriors as Curry faces difficulties.
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Alperen Sengun posted 19 points and 14 rebounds, Dillon Brooks added 24 points, and the Houston Rockets ended the Golden State Warriors' five-game win streak with a 106-96 victory on Sunday night in a clash between two Western Conference contenders.
Stephen Curry struggled, scoring only three points on 1-of-10 shooting, including missing seven of his eight three-point attempts — marking his lowest total of the season in a game where he was fully healthy. Curry's previous low was just two points on Dec. 19 against Memphis, but he had suffered a pelvic contusion in that game.
Jalen Green contributed 21 points, while Jabari Smith Jr., who tested his sprained right ankle before the game, came off the bench to score 16 points for the Rockets, who are currently second in the West with just three games left.
For the Warriors, Buddy Hield led with 20 points, and Brandin Podziemski added 19 points.
Takeaways:
Rockets: They snapped a seven-game losing streak at Golden State's home arena, a streak that dated back to a 135-105 win on Feb. 20, 2020. Houston will play three more games in California before returning home to host Denver for the season finale on Sunday.
Warriors: Curry passed Reggie Miller (25,279) to move into 24th place on the NBA's all-time scoring list with a total of 25,281 points. Golden State had won 10 of their last 11 games at home.
Key moment: With 9:57 left in the third quarter, officials reviewed and ruled that Draymond Green's aggressive driving layup into Sengun was a Flagrant 1 foul. The ruling came after Sengun's neck jerked backward upon contact with Green's elbow, with officials noting the head contact as the determining factor. It was Green's fifth personal foul.
Key stat: Curry didn't score until hitting a 37-foot three-pointer just before halftime — his third shot of the night. Despite his scoring struggles, he contributed seven assists in the first half.
Up next: The Rockets face the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday, while the Warriors head to Phoenix on Tuesday before returning home to host the Spurs the following night.

In the third quarter of the game, Draymond Green was assessed a Flagrant 1 foul for making contact with Alperen Sengun as he attempted a layup. Green’s elbow appeared to strike Sengun in the face, and the officials ruled the contact unnecessary after reviewing the play. This was Green's third Flagrant foul of the 2024-25 season.
Earlier in the game, Green received a technical foul after pushing Sengun near the throat with just over a minute left in the first half, which was his 13th technical of the season. Following the call, Green visibly expressed his frustration, clapping in the officiating crew chief's face and walking up to Sengun to yell at him.
Draymond Green’s fiery interactions with Sengun continued throughout the game, showing his intense competitive spirit.
