James y Ramos no jugaron el partido completo entre León y Rayados.
James Rodríguez will miss the first leg of the quarterfinals, while Sergio Ramos is doubtful for the Play-In match.
LEÓN — James Rodríguez and Sergio Ramos left the field early. The stars of León and Rayados were unable to finish their teams' regular-season matchup.
The León icon lost his cool and began arguing with referee Adonai Escobedo. The referee responded with two yellow cards in the 75th minute, sending James off for his first-ever red card in Mexico.
James had protested a decision in which he felt he was fouled. After receiving the first yellow for his heated complaints, the referee walked away, but the Colombian continued shouting, prompting the second yellow in mere seconds.
Once sent off, James became even more enraged, shouting at Escobedo despite attempts from teammates and even opposing players to calm him down.
As he left the pitch, the crowd’s reaction was divided—some fans applauded him, while others booed the Colombian, who will now miss the first leg of the quarterfinals.
Minutes later, it was Ramos's turn. The Rayados defender had to leave the game due to an injury. In the final minutes, an emergency cart was called to escort the Spaniard off the field.
Ramos exited with a frustrated expression. Although the injury didn’t appear serious, further tests will determine whether he will be fit for the Play-In match against Pachuca.
