Game Thread: Giants vs. Brewers – 4/22

After a tough finish to an otherwise strong road trip, the San Francisco Giants return home, where they’ve played just six of their 22 games this season. They’ll kick off a four-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers tonight at Oracle Park.

Taking the mound for the Giants is veteran left-hander Robbie Ray, making his fifth start of the season. Despite an up-and-down year, Ray leads the league in wins and winning percentage, with a 3-0 record, a 4.19 ERA, a 5.88 FIP, and 21 strikeouts to 15 walks in 19.1 innings. His last outing saw him allow 11 baserunners and four earned runs over four innings against the Philadelphia Phillies, though he struck out eight batters.

The Brewers counter with right-handed pitcher Quinn Priester, a 24-year-old in his third Major League season, now with his third MLB team. Priester has been impressive this season, posting a 1-0 record with a 0.90 ERA, a 4.23 FIP, and eight strikeouts to five walks in 10 innings. He pitched five shutout innings in his most recent start against the Detroit Tigers.
