Game Preview: 4/11/25 - Cardinals vs. Phillies
After a tough 1-5 road trip that included being swept by the Boston Red Sox and losing a series to the Pittsburgh Pirates, the St. Louis Cardinals now find themselves under .500. Things don’t get any easier, as the top-ranked Philadelphia Phillies roll into town next. The Cardinals will face the Phillies' three best starters this season: Aaron Nola, Cristopher Sanchez, and Zack Wheeler. Philadelphia enters with an 8-4 record and a +13 run differential, tied for 5th in the National League, just behind the Cubs (+28), Giants (+18), Dodgers (+15), and Padres (+14). Meanwhile, the Cardinals are sitting at a -2 run differential, though that number doesn’t fully reflect the challenges of the first two weeks. With Chris Roycroft struggling and being sent down to AAA, Roddery Munoz has been called up in hopes that a fresh arm and renewed confidence will help stabilize a bullpen that has been heavily tested so far this season.
How to Watch: FanDuel Sports Midwest, Matrix Midwest, KMOV-4
How to Listen: KMOX 1120AM/104.1FM, WIJR 880AM (Spanish broadcast)
Starters:
STL: Andre Pallante (1-0, 3.86 ERA)
PHI: Aaron Nola (0-2, 6.35 ERA)
Players to Watch:
STL: Brendan Donovan – Over his last 7 games, Donovan is hitting a scorching .464 (13-28) with a .500 OBP and a .679 slugging percentage. He’s also 2-4 with a home run in his career against Nola, so expect his hot streak to continue tonight.
PHI: Kyle Schwarber – Currently tied for the MLB lead in home runs with 6 (alongside Aaron Judge and Tyler Soderstrom), Schwarber is 3-6 with a home run against Pallante. The slugger is likely to keep making an impact against the Cardinals’ contact-heavy pitching style.
