Planning to vote in Greene County on Tuesday? Here’s where you can cast your ballot and what you need to bring.
More than 66 million Americans have cast their votes ahead of the general election on Tuesday, November 5, according to data from the University of Florida's Election Lab, which is current as of November 1. In Missouri alone, nearly 280,000 early votes have been reported as of October 30.
In Greene County, approximately 30,000 residents have either requested a mail-in ballot or participated in in-person absentee voting, as noted by Greene County Clerk Shane Schoeller.
During the 2020 presidential election, Missouri saw a voter turnout of 70%, and Schoeller anticipates a 75% turnout for this election.

What Do I Need to Vote in Missouri?
Missouri law mandates that voters present a valid government-issued photo ID, which can include a driver's license, passport, or military ID. If you don’t have an ID but are registered, you can still cast a provisional ballot. Your vote will be counted if your signature matches the one on record, or if you present a valid photo ID at your polling place on Election Day.
When Do Polls Open on Election Day in Missouri?
Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5. If you're in line at 7 p.m., you are entitled to vote.
Where Can I Vote?
To find your polling place, check your registration status on the Missouri Secretary of State's website or visit Green County Voting Information.
In Greene County, any registered voter can vote at the following central locations:
- Great Southern Bank Arena, 685 S. John Q. Hammons Parkway, Springfield
- Mercy Hospital, 1235 E. Cherokee St., Springfield
- City Utilities Transit Center, 211 N. Main Ave., Springfield
- CoxHealth Medical Center South, 3801 S. National Ave., Springfield
Note that two polling places have changed due to expected turnout. Voters in the N Republic A precinct will now vote at Republic Middle School, 688 Hines St., Republic, and those who previously voted at the Missouri State University location will now go to Great Southern Bank Arena.
What About Absentee Voting?
Absentee voting is available in person from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday until November 4 at the Greene County Archives/Election Center, located at 1126 N. Boonville Ave., Springfield. A valid photo ID is required for in-person absentee voting.
No-excuse in-person absentee voting is currently permitted, meaning anyone can vote absentee without needing to provide a reason.
The deadline for requesting absentee ballots by mail has passed. Mailed ballots must be completed, notarized, returned by mail, and received by the clerk's office before 7 p.m. on November 5.
