Penn State's Drew Allar did not play in the second half against Wisconsin due to a knee injury.

MADISON, Wis. — The status of Penn State quarterback Drew Allar for next weekend's highly anticipated matchup against fourth-ranked Ohio State remains uncertain after he left Saturday's victory over Wisconsin with a left knee injury.

Allar departed the field late in the second quarter and was seen walking cautiously to the locker room with a trainer just before halftime, during the No. 3 Nittany Lions' 28-13 win against the Badgers.

Although Allar attempted to return for the second half, he informed the coaching staff during warm-ups that he felt unable to effectively contribute due to the injury. “It was a matter of whether he would be mobile enough to run our offense,” said Penn State coach James Franklin, who had initially expected Allar to return. “After warming up, Drew expressed that he couldn’t go. I asked him to be honest with me, and he just didn’t feel he could move well enough to play.”

Entering the game, Allar ranked sixth nationally with a QBR of 86.8. He completed 14 of 18 passes for 148 yards and a touchdown against the Badgers (5-3).

Stepping in for Allar, sophomore Beau Pribula excelled, going 11-of-13 for 98 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for an additional 28 yards. Franklin praised Pribula’s performance as "gutsy," helping the Nittany Lions (7-0) maintain their unbeaten record.

Despite having only 31 career attempts before this game, Pribula was prepared for his moment after Allar “tweaked” his knee. “We weren’t sure if Drew would be back after halftime,” Pribula said. “When I got the call, I was locked in.”

On a crucial possession, Pribula directed the Nittany Lions on a 13-play, 81-yard touchdown drive, completing all five of his passes for 47 yards and adding 17 rushing yards. He capped it with a 1-yard touchdown pass to Khalil Dinkins on third-and-goal in the fourth quarter, putting Penn State ahead 21-13.

After the touchdown, Allar came onto the field to celebrate with Pribula. “He was great throughout the game, supporting me and giving me tips,” Pribula remarked.

Penn State's victory sets the stage for a significant showdown against Ohio State (6-1) in State College next Saturday, with major implications for the Big Ten title and the College Football Playoff. The Nittany Lions have lost seven consecutive games to the Buckeyes.

Pribula expressed confidence regardless of who starts at quarterback next week. “This is a huge week for us. We’re going to quickly put this win behind us. We know what’s at stake.”
