As of 5 a.m., Hurricane Milton was moving off Florida's east coast, though parts of the state were still experiencing hurricane-force winds and heavy rainfall.

With maximum sustained winds of 85 mph, the storm was moving northeast at 18 mph. Volusia and Flagler counties continued to feel strong gusts and rain.

Curfews are in place in Volusia County until at least 8 a.m. and in Flagler County until at least 7:30 a.m.

The Volusia Sheriff's Office advised residents to avoid the roads due to hazardous conditions. Sheriff Mike Chitwood toured the county early Thursday morning, reporting widespread downed branches, continued rain, and flooded streets.

Hurricane Milton Causes Widespread Power Outages By 6:42 a.m., over 199,000 customers in Volusia-Flagler were without power. Flagler County had 50,053 outages, while Volusia County saw 149,825 outages, according to findenergy.com.

National Weather Service: Strong Winds, Rain Continue in Volusia-Flagler At 6 a.m., flooding and high winds were still affecting east-central Florida, with wind gusts between 50-70 mph. Volusia County remained under a flash flood warning until 6 a.m., with a hurricane warning and flood watch active until 8 p.m. Flagler County faced similar warnings, including a flash flood warning until 8 a.m. and a storm surge warning along coastal areas.
