Phoenix fought back to take a narrow 50-48 lead before the Lakers regained control with a 35-point third quarter. However, the Suns dominated the final period, outscoring the Lakers 33-22 to secure the hard-fought win.
Suns coach Mike Budenholzer praised his team’s defensive "toughness," citing their resilience in bouncing back after a challenging first quarter as crucial to their success.
In other NBA action, Paolo Banchero made history as the first Orlando Magic player in 20 years to score 50 points in a game, leading his team to a narrow 119-115 win over the Indiana Pacers. Banchero tied the franchise record for points in a half, scoring 37 in the first two quarters. He finished with 50 points, 13 rebounds, and nine assists, while Jalen Suggs added 25 points.
"It was just being in the zone. I felt like I was in an open gym, back at home, just working on my game," Banchero reflected. "Every shot felt like it was going in, and it’s a good feeling when you’ve got a day like that.”
