Flight diverted after a passenger discovers a live mouse in their meal.

Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) reported that one of its flights had to make an emergency landing after a mouse emerged from a passenger's in-flight meal on Wednesday. The flight, which was traveling from Oslo, Norway, to Malaga, Spain, was diverted to Copenhagen, Denmark. Airline spokesperson Oystein Schmidt explained that the decision followed safety protocols, as the unexpected rodent posed a potential risk. Passengers were later transferred to a different aircraft to continue their journey to Malaga.

Airlines enforce strict policies regarding rodents to avoid potential damage, such as chewed electrical wiring. "Such incidents are exceedingly rare," said Mr. Schmidt. "We have established procedures for these situations, including a review with our suppliers to prevent future occurrences."

Jarle Borrestad, who witnessed the incident, recounted on the BBC News Channel that the mouse escaped from the food box belonging to the woman seated next to him. He noted that the atmosphere was surprisingly calm, with passengers remaining relaxed. However, he did mention that he covered his legs with his socks to keep the mouse at bay. Although the flight diversion added a few hours to their trip, it was manageable.

This incident marks the second rodent-related event in a week; a train service in southern England had to be halted mid-journey after two squirrels boarded, with one stubbornly refusing to leave.
