Jonathan Bailey Confirms He'll Return as Anthony in Season 4 of ‘Bridgerton’

Viscount Anthony Bridgerton will be returning for Season 4 of the hit Netflix period drama, as confirmed by Jonathan Bailey. Bailey will reprise his role as the eldest Bridgerton sibling, appearing in several key scenes. This follows the focus of Season 3 on his younger brother Colin (Luke Newton) and his romance with Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan).
Bailey mentioned in a GMA interview, which also highlighted his Emmy-nominated role in Showtime’s Fellow Travelers, “I have a couple of weeks etched out in my schedule for returning. I look forward to reading the scripts.”
In contrast to Season 1, where Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon (Regé-Jean Page) never reunited on screen, Anthony and his bride Kate (Simone Ashley) made appearances in Season 3. While Dynevor only returned solo for a few scenes in Season 2 before leaving the series, Bailey had previously stated his intention to stay with Bridgerton long-term, reflecting his role as the Viscount and head of the Bridgerton household.
In their last appearance, Anthony and Kate were seen heading to India for a babymoon. Bailey noted, “The thing about Bridgerton is that there are so many ways to fall in love as humans, and that’s what the show will explore. As the older brother, I’ll be there to support the younger ones.”
With Penelope and Colin’s relationship established, Penelope—now known as Lady Whistledown—will likely remain in the story. Season 4 will shift focus to Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson), the bohemian second son, who remains reluctant to settle down until he meets the enchanting Lady in Silver at a masquerade ball. The character of Sophie Beckett, portrayed by Yerin Ha, will be central to this season.
Bailey praised Thompson, saying, “Benedict’s full of wonder and joy. He’s the beating heart of the family. Luke Thompson is going to be stunning.”
