Heat concerns lead to early dismissal at Canton’s Heritage Christian School.

CANTON – Due to anticipated heat indexes approaching 100 degrees on Tuesday and Wednesday, Heritage Christian School will dismiss students early.

In a Facebook announcement, the school stated that students will be released at noon on both days because of the extreme heat.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, temperatures today are expected to reach around 94 degrees, with a heat index of 98 degrees. On Wednesday, the forecasted heat index will rise to 103 degrees, with a high near 93.

Schools throughout Ohio are making adjustments to their schedules in response to the high temperatures.

Heat Wave Expected: The Canton area is forecasted to experience extreme heat, with the heat index potentially hitting 103 degrees on Wednesday. For Tuesday, a slightly lower heat index of 97 degrees is anticipated.

The National Weather Service predicts rising temperatures, with highs expected to reach the low 90s. Thunderstorms may develop starting Tuesday evening and continue through Wednesday as a weak cold front approaches, with damaging winds being the main concern if severe storms arise.

Today: Mostly sunny with a high around 91. Calm winds shifting northwest at 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon.
Tonight: Mostly cloudy with a low near 71. Light winds.
Tuesday: Mostly sunny with a high near 94. Heat index values could reach 97. Light south winds becoming southwest at 5 to 9 mph.
Tuesday Night: Chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 p.m., partly cloudy with a low around 74. 30% chance of precipitation.
Wednesday: Showers and thunderstorms likely after 2 p.m., mostly sunny with a high near 94. West winds at 5 to 9 mph. 40% chance of precipitation.
Wednesday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely before 2 a.m., mostly cloudy with a low around 69. 40% chance of precipitation.
Thursday: Partly sunny with a high near 86.
Friday: Chance of showers after 2 p.m., mostly sunny with a high near 90. 40% chance of precipitation.
Saturday: Mostly sunny with a high around 82, chance of showers at 30%.
Sunday: Sunny with a high near 83.
